Duh! The perfect little gift shop I always forget….

This weekend, I had out-of-town family to entertain.  Through a comedy of errors and wrong dates, we ended up at Tryon Arts & Crafts (at Harmon Field).  The little shop their is simply WONDERFUL.  I’ve been there before — but always forget that it’s there.  How silly of me.

We were an eclectic mix of shoppers… ages 58 to 14.  We all were ooooing and ahhhhhing over the jewelry and pottery. Earings and necklaces — all reasonably priced for the quality.  Scarves, woodwork, knits and metal, too.  It was one of those truly fun shopping experiences…. and an art exhibit in the next room, too.

I found a bunch of handmade, one-of-a-kind Raku buttons that I simply love.  There are other stores, of course, in the 828 – but what a special little gem right in my backyard (it’s really, almost in my backyard).   What’s better than shopping local?  Add the opportunity to also support local artists.  Perfect score!

You might want to verify hours – but this is what is posted on the website:  Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm (I swore the staff said 5pm) and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. Holiday hours on Saturday are from 10am to 4pm.
