Although not featured in the 828 holiday shopping guide earlier, Tryon House was actually the impetus for our little gift guide. While shopping in the store for a birthday present, there were so many unique items that I simply wanted to feature on the 828. We’ve been doing a mix of store recommendations, but I have to admit it was the “pink flask” that made me snap my first picture and exclaim (to myself) – we should feature all the cool items that can be found in the 828.
From lush cable-knit sweaters to classy on-trend dresses, Tryon House has a wide variety of gift options for family & friends (or for yourself). B.ella tights, fur lined hats and an amazing selection of jewelry, tortoise-shell headbands, and leather handbags line the center table and counter. — But there is something very special about Tryon House that not everyone may realize: owner Mary Prioleau showcases many regional artists and local charities. This holiday season, Mary brought in precious hand-made Morris ornaments made by Polk County High School’s Moria Davis and adorable wire-wrap rings from Cooper Riis artisans (profits will go to help a local Tryon girl get a therapy dog). Tryon House’s committment to supporting locals in the 828 continues all year long.
Tryon House also features local business success stories. North Carolina native Angela Newman’s hot-hot-hot underwear line, KNOCKOUT! — will surely make a woman smile. These are very special, “hard-to-find-in-our-area” panties that have been featured on NPR, ABC, MTV and CNN.
With a great men’s section in the back of the store, the store carries ties, shorts and dress shirts. In fact, I purchased the most unique pink & grey tie for one of my employees who is based in NYC. He gets more compliments on that tie then any of his other clothing. I’ve been there in person at a convention with people raving over that tie — and he always mentions what a hit it still is with clients and friends. (Yes, he will be getting a NEW tie from Tryon House this holiday season!!). There are great “Morris the Horse” tishirts for kids and teens, too. Tryon House is THE headquarters for Morris gifts.
Stop by Tryon House before the holiday season ends — and again and again in the New Year. Remember that this store is open on Sundays, too.
Great gift-wrapping done for you, too, in the store’s signature red, black and white polkadots with ribbons galore.
