Harvest House Restaurant

The Harvest House Restaurant of the Carolinas has now been in business for just under a year.   It is very clean, welcoming and features local art.   We look forward to using the back patio when the weather is better.
The restaurant is best known for lunch.    They serve really good sandwiches, hand patted burgers and homemade soup.    Lunch has the biggest crowd however, dinner here is lovely and we look forward to reviewing that soon.
We visited Harvest House on a Saturday for the Husband’s birthday.    It was very cold outside so we chose a table in the corner away from the frequently opening door.   We started our lunch with a couple of beers, HH has a really nice selection.    Husband selected a Bell’s Two Hearted Ale and I chose a Young’s Double Chocolate Stout; I swear it has the finish of a Klondike Bar.
We had been told by a friend to try The Speckled Pig Wings.    Our friend was right this appetizer is fantastic.   I’m not a wing person, but these are not wings.    Very tender pork on the bone with nice seasoning.
I also ordered the French Dip on Gluten Free bread, with a side of fries.   HH is the only restaurant in town (that I know of) serving GF bread.   This is a great sandwich, really hit the spot.
Husband ordered The Neat Hamburger.   Made with Painted Hills grass fed beef, his choice of cheese and any other topping he liked.   “It’s a really good hamburger”.
We didn’t save room for dessert as usual, I’ll have to try harder next time.
The chef recommended we try the Fried Green Tomatoes, so I’ll be going back soon for those.
Our server was great.   She was very attentive, without hovering and knew the menu…I ask a lot of questions.
