Mary Alice claims her creative spark came from growing up with her close family of nine brothers and sisters, who wrote and performed in their own plays and musicals. She is known for her intimate portrayals of women’s lives and is an active environmentalist. She draws themes for her novels from nature and the parallels with human nature. Some of her titles include Second Star to the Right, The Beach House, Last Light over Carolina, Turtle Summer, and The Book Club with her latest endeavor being the Low country Summer Trilogy. The Summer Girls was released in 2013, and The Summer Wind is due out this summer. Summer’s End will be released mid 2015.
Her novels have received several awards and are sold world wide.
